Nintari Has A New Game Player!

I would like to welcome Imtiaz Fazal to the Nintari Team. Imtiaz joined Nintari on Monday. Being the last member to join the team, Imtiaz has taken over our meeting room and now has his own office. He wanted everyone to know that he has a nice new desk that he is very proud of!

On another note, I thought now would be a good time to describe the members of our team and which video game characters they are most similar to. These Descriptions were taken from the following survey. What Pre-1985 Video Game Character Am I?

Sam - Base Defender:

What's mine is mine, and I make sure everyone knows it. Nobody invades my space without permission - I'd destroy everything I own before letting someone take it from me. I tend to be forward-facing, which is both a strength and a weakness.

Ramsay - Scorched Earth Tank:

When I have a mission, it consumes me; I will not be satisfied until the job is done. I have a strong sense of duty, and a strong sense of direction. Changes in the tide don't phase me - I always know which way the wind blows, and I know how to compensate for it. I get on poorly with people like myself.

Glen - Asteroid:

I am a drifter. I go where life leads, which makes me usually a very calm and content sort of person. That or thoroughly apathetic. Usually I keep on doing whatever I'm doing, and it takes something special to make me change my mind.

Erika - Centipede:

I wander back and forth minding my own business, changing directions only when things get in my way, but I always seem to be persecuted. It's as if people want to hurt me, to cut me in two, to laugh at my confusion. Can't you just leave me alone? Stop shooting me!

Imtiaz - Kong

Strong and passionate, I tend to be misunderstood, sometimes even feared. I don't want to fight, I don't want to cause trouble, all I ask is a little love, and a little peace. If I don't get what I want, I get angry, and throw barrels and flaming oil at whatever's stopping me.

So now you know a little more about the Nintari Team.
Thanks for reading.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Movie - June 4th 2004!
The 3rd Harry Potter Movie is coming out next summer and I found a page that has pictures from the upcoming movie. Here Hermoine is threatening Malfoy! I read the book a long time so I can't remember what this scene is about, but I guess I will have to wait until the movie comes out to find out. I can't wait.

ENOUGH ABOUT THE MATRIX!!!
The goal of this post is to bring you some video game news that is not related to the matrix. The Alias game is coming out on PS 2 and Xbox. It will be released on Dec 12th, just in time for Christmas! Here's a picture of Sydney Bristow kicking butt in one of her trademark outfits. The character really looks a lot like Jennifer Garner, I'm impressed.

EXTRA!!! EXTRA!!! MORE MATRIX!!! MORE MATRIX!!!

The other day I read an article on slashdot.org that gave me the inside scoop about the lastest developments in Matrix Land, and I've decided since your such a loyal reader, to let you in on it too. (It also gives me a perfect way to segway into a little video game discussion)

I know, I know..."get to the point", "tell us already!".. ok, here goes...

The video game maker Ubi Soft has decided to take on the task of really creating the Matrix...or at least sorta... It has decided to make a MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Roll Playing Game) that will follow the storyline of the Matrix. In otherwords, they are creating a massive virtual world that operates under the same rules as the Matrix. If you played the game you would have the chance to be one of the millions of people trapped in the Matrix, living a virtual exsistence, asking yourself, "is this real or just a dream?". As crazy as all this sounds I'm not kidding, and it probably will be fun!

I know you have lots of questions, and in due time I'll answer them all, but for now I'll answer only one.... Yes, you "could" be "The One" BUT, don't take my word for it... "Ask the Oracle" (http://thematrixonline.warnerbros.com)

Sincerely,
"THE ONE" (Glen)

Today I was reading an article on www.inma.org and I came across this passage:

"Before I got into my plane leaving from Rio, my home town, I came across a very interesting book: The Soul of the New Consumer, by British authors David Lewis and Darren Bridger.

In this book, I faced a new concept -- at least I never heard of it before -- coined by Shel Silverstein, an American author and poet.

It was a funny soup of letters put together to describe a period in which society becomes increasingly chaotic. "Tesarac" was how Silverstein named this period. During these confusing times of a Tesarac and before reorganising itself in a way no one can predict or easily anticipate, old things are dead or dying and we cannot foresee the future. Silverstein believes that the changes taking place as society travels through the Tesarac are so profound that nobody born one side of this "wrinkle in time" will ever be able to understand fully what life was like before it occurred.

When my grandson was 10 years old, four years ago, an information technology guy was fixing my computer at home and came across the need of a password to enter a certain program. From the living room he heard the fuss and shouted: "just type 'seremo' as an ID and 'zizica' as the password. But probably you will have to reboot the computer before."

There he was, a kid with his head into Nintendo and skates and with an absolutely new language that even nowadays many people are not acquainted to.

We are still passing the Tesarac, as David Lewis calls it, and what is apparent, however, is that manufacturers and suppliers trapped on the wrong side of this wrinkle in time will find themselves increasingly overwhelmed by the vastness of the changes it portends. Their more flexible, better informed and astute competitors who have moved through the Tesarac and understand the nature of the New Economy will be able to tap into change and sweep onward to undreamed levels of success." (exert from article Opportunities in Disruption on inma)

I posted this quote because I believe that there are so many opportunities to be found in this bold new internet world that this is a VERY EXCITING time for us all. As launch approaches for our site the anticipation is starting to grow amongst our team. Nintari, our baby, will soon be born... and I can't wait to see it grow.

Cheers,
Glen

With a little encouragement from some helpful parties today we decided to submit an application form for Ideaflow.

What is Ideaflow you ask? It's a place where young entrepreneurs can go to make contacts, present their solution, and maybe even find advice, advisors, or funding.

For those interested they can check it out at: http://www.ottawacapitalnetwork.com/entrepreneurs/programs/ideaFlow.asp

I think if we do get an opportunity to present, it could be very good exposure for us.

Cheers,
Glen

Ok, that was fun!

On Saturday night I watched the 2nd Matrix movie again just to be prepared for the 3rd. It was well worth it because they picked up right where they left off in the 2nd.

All around it was a great movie! I'm not going to say too much because I don't want to ruin it, but I will tell you my two favourite things.

The first...

Agent Smith: He is so cool in all three movies. Don't you agree Mr. Anderson? I mean come on, check him out!

The second...

MechWarriors: I'd love to have one of those!! It would be so sweet, and not too mention practical. I could use it to... ummm... Ok, so it wouldn't be so practical, but you can't convince me that you wouldn't want one of these too:

Final thoughts:

I will definitely be buying all three movies on DVD.

...maybe if I wait a couple months they'll be available on Nintari... ;-)

Cheers,
Glen

It's time for some meaningless discussion!! (don't worry I'll be quick)

The 3rd Matrix Movie is out and I'm pumped to go see it! The second one left me a little confused and a little annoyed that it ended so abruptly, but I have confidence that in this third and final movie I will not be left disappointed.

I'm going to check it out on Saturday, so I'll surely have something to say about it on Sunday.

On a side note, I refuse to read the reviews ahead of time because every time I read a review it ruins what otherwise might have been a great movie for me.

Ok, enough chit chat. Back to work!

but wait...

"Nothing is really work unless you would rather be doing something else. "

BACK TO FUN!! ;-)

Glen

Things have been busy around the office the past few days. We are steaming ahead on the development of Nintari. Many of the key components are starting to fall into place. One example of this is the content we have secured for launch. In fact, we will have a database of over 200,000 movies and 40,000 video games. So there will be details about each game and movie available to our users (Yes, if what you're looking for isn't there it can be easily added to the database).

Having all this content available at launch is intended to provide users with excellent information about video games and DVDs. It will also make listing faster and easier, and enable us to provide superior searching capabilities to every user. All around having this content is a big plus.

I think everyone will really enjoy how much we'll have to offer right off the bat.

Cheers,
Glen

Ok, I know this is a day or two late but did everyone check out the new "refer your friends" section at the bottom of the splash page (www.nintari.net). It is intended to give everyone an easy way to let others know about us. After all come launch this will be a peer-to-peer site, therefore the stronger the community the better. Personally, I can't wait to see the Nintari community grow and develop. I want it to be the kind of place I would, and will, hang out.

On a side note, I've had a few comments about the designs, and I'm glad to hear that most people like the way the splash page looks, and find it easy to navigate.

Ok, that is all for today... now go refer your friends! (All of them....5 at a time...) ;-)

Cheers,
Glen
